Blessings Friends!
It’s December, can you believe it!!! Oh, my goodness where this year has gone. Seems like just a few weeks ago I was writing my Happy New Year newsletter. But as we now officially step into the Christmas season, let’s begin with the true reason we celebrate this time: Jesus Christ. This season is not about gifts, lights, and traditions, it is about the greatest gift ever given—the birth of our Savior.
Jesus is the Son of God, the One who Is God, the One with God. He came to redeem us from our sins and restore our relationship with Him - with God. There is no separation between Jesus and God – they are One.
His birth fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)
Born in a humble stable, Jesus came not as a conquering king, but as a servant, demonstrating God’s love and humility. His life, death, and resurrection are the foundation of our faith and the source of eternal hope.
With the busyness of the holiday time, we can miss opportunities to worship and glorify Jesus. December is the perfect time to engage with others and give glory to God. Here are some intentional ways to keep Jesus at the front and keep Him as the reason for the season;
-
Read the Christmas Story Together
Gather your family and read Luke 2:1-20. Reflect on the significance of Jesus’ birth and how it changed the world forever. Ask each other how Jesus has changed your life. -
Worship and Pray
Spend time in worship, thanking God for His indescribable gift. Share worship time with others. Set aside intentional time to spend time with Jesus and pray for a heart focused on Jesus during the busyness of the season. -
Serve Others in His Name
Jesus came to serve, and we can honor Him by serving others. Whether through acts of kindness, forgiveness, helping those in need, or volunteering, let your actions and your words reflect His love. -
Celebrate with Christ-Centered Traditions
Incorporate traditions like Advent readings, a nativity scene, singing carols that glorify Jesus, or do a bible study by yourself or with others. -
Share the Gospel
Christmas is a perfect time to share the good news of Jesus with friends and family. Be bold in your faith, embrace Jesus and the meaning of the season and let others see His light in you.
Scripture for Reflection
- "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
- "She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21)
Let’s make this Christmas about Christ first—honoring His life, His sacrifice, and His unfailing love. As we prepare to celebrate His birth, may we fix our hearts on Him, giving Him the glory He deserves.
How will you focus on Jesus this Christmas? Do you have ways you incororate Jesus into this season? Reply and share your thoughts—we’d love to hear!
Many Blessings,
Billie
